The Appointment of Professors at Private and State Universities of Applied Sciences — BeProf

Project Description

The BeProf project, which is divided into four sub-projects, examines the appointment of professors at private and public universities of applied sciences as part of a comparative case and field analysis. The focus is on strategic personnel planning, operational personnel selection and professorial personnel structures at private universities of applied sciences. With regard to personnel planning, the study examines the aspects according to which the position table for professorships and the organization of individual professorial positions are aligned by the universities. With regard to operational personnel selection, the formal requirements, the procedural elements of the decision-making process, the constellation of actors and the selection criteria for appointments are analyzed. The comparison of professorial staff structures at private and state universities of applied sciences is based on characteristics such as the number, subject focus, value or gender-related staffing of positions. The BeProf project as a whole aims to compare the special features of the appointment process at private university of applied sciences that have hardly been researched to date..
